As a result, Emmy history often overlaps with Grammy and chart trivia. These 20 Emmy factoids prove the point.

MTV Unplugged received three consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series from 1993 through 1995.

Two albums that were recorded for that show (Eric Clapton’s Unplugged and Tony Bennett’s MTV Unplugged) won Grammys for Album of the Year.

Two other Unplugged albums have won in other categories. Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged In New York took Best Alternative Performance of 1995. Shakira’s Shakira ? MTV Unplugged won as Best Latin Pop Album of 2000.

Glee received back-to-back Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2010 and 2011.

Fifteen Glee albums or EPs have made the top 10, more than any other TV series in history. The tally includes two Christmas albums and EPs saluting Madonna and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
